Details of the functions available in the editor tool for creating emails, letters, and Xpressions.

Scope

List of tools in Basic Editor/Advanced Editor.

Basic Editor

  • Print – This allows you to print out the contents of the message.

  • Spellcheck – This automatically highlights incorrect spellings and provides corrections.

  • Undo – This reverses your last action(s).

  • Redo – This reverses your last Undo(s).

  • Image Manager – This allows you to upload and insert images.

  • Horizontal Rule – This adds a horizontal line to divide your message.

  • Insert Date – This inserts the Date token into your message.

  • Insert Time – This inserts the Time token into your message.

  • Paragraph Style – This allows you to change how your paragraphs appear in the message.

  • Font Name – This allows you to change the type of font you are using.

    • Arial

    • Courier New

    • Georgia

    • MS Sans Serif​

    • Segoe UI

    • Tahoma

    • Times New Roman

    • Verdana

  • Real font size – This changes the size of your text.

  • Bold/Italics/Underline/Strikethrough – This generates the selected formatting for your text.

  • Align Left/Align Centre/Align Right/Justify/Remove alignment – This organises your paragraphs based on the selected alignment.

  • Numbered List – This creates a list organised by numbers.

  • Bullet List – This creates a list organised by bullet points.

  • Foreground Colour – This changes the colour of the text.

  • Background Colour – This changes the colour of the background.

  • Toggle Full Screen Mode – This maximises the text box to cover the entire window.

  • Insert Table – This allows you to add a table into your message with multiple rows and columns. Normally only available in Advanced Editor, the Xpressions version of Basic Editor also has it.

    • Table Wizard – This allows you to make changes to the table once insert e.g., adding or removing rows/columns.

  • Insert Fields – This provides a list of tokens that can be inserted into your message. Read our guide for further information: Messenger: Tokens (Merge Fields).

Advanced Editor

  • Print – This allows you to print out the contents of the message.

  • Spellcheck – This automatically highlights incorrect spellings and provides corrections.

  • Find and Replace – This allows you to search for a word or phrase and replace it with another automatically.

  • Cut – This deletes the selected text to insert a copy of it elsewhere.

  • Copy – This copies the selected text to insert a copy of it elsewhere.

  • Paste – This inserts text that has been cut or copied.

  • Paste Options – This provides additional ways to Paste your cut/copied text.

  • Undo – This reverses your last action(s).

  • Redo – This reverses your last Undo(s).

  • Image Manager – This allows you to upload and insert images.

  • Document Manager – This allows you to upload and insert documents directly into your email.

  • Template Manager – This allows you to upload and insert a HTML file with a template for your email or letter.

  • Hyperlink Manager – This allows you to create hyperlinks in your email or Xpression.

  • Remove Link – This deletes the hyperlink you selected in the text.

  • Superscript – This makes the selected text a smaller size and moves it above another word or letter.

  • Subscript – This makes the selected text a smaller size and moves it below another word or letter.

  • New Paragraph – This starts a new row.

  • Insert Groupbox – This inserts a box into the message where you can enter a message, like a text box.

  • Horizontal Rule – This adds a horizontal line to divide your message.

  • Insert Date – This inserts the Date token into your message.

  • Insert Time – This inserts the Time token into your message.

  • Paragraph Style – This allows you to change how your paragraphs appear in the message.

  • Real font size – This changes the size of your text.

  • Select All – This highlights all the text in the message.

  • Bold/Italics/Underline/Strikethrough – This generates the selected formatting for your text.

  • Align Left/Align Centre/Align Right/Justify/Remove alignment – This organises your paragraphs based on the selected alignment.

  • Indent – This starts the line/block of text further from the margin.

  • Outdent – This starts the line/block of text closer to the margin.

  • Numbered List – This creates a list organised by numbers.

  • Bullet List – This creates a list organised by bullet points.

  • Show/Hide Border – This shows/hides the margin around the contents of the message.

  • Foreground Colour – This changes the colour of the text.

  • Background Colour – This changes the colour of the background.

  • Format Stripper – This removes any formatting that has been used in the message.

  • Insert Symbol – This allows you to insert several symbols into your message.

  • Insert Table – This allows you to add a table into your message with multiple rows and columns.

    • Table Wizard – This allows you to make changes to the table once insert e.g., adding or removing rows/columns.

  • Insert Code Snippet > Email Signature – This inserts a default template for an email (or letter) signature.

  • Convert to lower case – This changes the highlighted text to lower case.

  • Convert to upper case – This changes the highlighted text to upper case.

  • Zoom - This allows you to zoom in and out within the text box to better see what you have written.

  • Toggle Full Screen Mode – This maximises the text box to cover the entire window.
