List of Message Statuses
 

Status

Description

Processed

The email has been received by our email provider and is ready to be delivered.

Submitted

This is the initial status until the email is either Delivered or another status is returned.

There may be a short delay, especially when sending to many email addresses at once, between submitting your email and it being sent by the email provider.

Delivered

The email has been delivered successfully to the recipient’s mail server.

Delivered does not necessarily mean that your email is in the recipient’s inbox.

Opened

The email has been delivered to and opened by the recipient.

Not all email providers will allow this information to be recorded and sent back to Messenger, so most emails will only say Delivered even if the recipients have opened them.

Clicked

The email has been delivered to the recipient who has clicked on one or more of the hyperlinks in the email.

Not all email providers will allow this information to be recorded and sent back to Messenger, so most emails will only say Delivered even if the recipients have clicked on hyperlinks.

Deferred

The email was temporarily rejected by the recipient’s mail server.

Bounced

The recipient’s mail server could not or would not accept the email.

This will usually indicate that the email address is incorrect/invalid.

Unsubscribed

The recipient has unsubscribed from your emails. The recipient will be excluded from future emails and will instead get the Bounced/Dropped status.

Some email providers will automatically include a link to unsubscribe from the email to maintain compliance with CAN-SPAM laws. When a recipient clicks that link within the email, they are added to an unsubscribe list.

Spam Report

The recipient marked the email as spam or moved it into their spam/junk folder.

Not all email providers will record and send this information back to Messenger.

Dropped

The email was sent to an email address that previously had the Bounced, Unsubscribed or Spam Report status. This means that the email is usually being sent to an invalid/incorrect email address, or the recipient has marked your emails as spam.
